The Importance of Morality for Madrasah Leaders, UM Education Administration Department Lecturer Team Holds Training

JATIMTIMES – A team of lecturers from the Department of Educational Administration, Faculty of Education, State University of Malang (UM), held a Community Service (PKM) training to strengthen moral-based learning leadership for the Head of Madrasah Ma’Arif in Malang City. The activity departed from recent events and news from social media, concerning the profession of an educator who deviated from ethics.

The training activity was held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Building A19 Seminar Room, State University of Malang.

This PKM activity was chaired by Dr. Ahmad Nurabadi, MPd consisting of Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Bafadal MPd and Dr. Teguh Triwiyanto MPd.

The training was carried out to provide strengthening, insight, and motivation for the Heads of Madrasah Ma’Arif in Malang City. This is to improve the quality of learning leadership based on morality as the main value that needs to be upheld by a leader.

During the training activity, the participants who attended were very enthusiastic to listen to the presentation of material by Dr. Ahmad Nurabadi MPd as well as reflections from Dr. Teguh Triwiyanto, MPd.

At the beginning of the training activity, the head of the madrasah gained insight into the importance of preparing a superior school/madrasah work plan based on SWOT analysis in order to achieve the vision, mission, and goals of the school through an effective and efficient program.

Through these activities, madrasah heads can improve their skills in compiling effective learning programs, especially in the formation of morals and character of students so that the vision and mission of madrasah schools can be achieved optimally.

Dr. Ahmad Nurabadi MPd said that the holding of a moral-based learning leadership strengthening training for the head of the Ma’arif madrasah in Malang City was a form of commitment as an academic. “To always escort and assist schools under the auspices of Ma’arif Malang City in the preparation of effective learning programs for prospective graduates,” said Nurabadi.

In the presentation of the material at the training activity, the Lecturer Team of the Department of Educational Administration FIP UM emphasized that the role of a learning leader is very important in relation to being a moral example realized through his attitude.

The Secretary of Ma’arif City, Dr. M Ahsanuddin MPd also confirmed the statement that the smallest educational institution we lead must certainly have a differentiator from other schools. Especially regarding morals that are favored both from leaders, teachers, and even students.

“The attitude of a learning leader determines the success of learning in schools, because they will present a pleasant work and learning environment atmosphere for students and teachers,” said Ahsanuddin.

“The learning leadership of madrasah heads will be successful if it is based on a good attitude that is reflected in behavior, because attitude is more important and underlies all aspects of actions and actions,” added Teguh Triwiyanto

Meanwhile, the Head of MTs Jabal Nur, Andry Eko Prasetyo said that the majority of madrasah heads in Malang City are still compiling school programs and filling out Madrasah Self-Evaluation (EDM) only as a formality following the existing system. The holding of this training activity is actually very much needed, especially in assisting the heads of madrasas in compiling school programs until the document is said to be feasible, especially in supporting the achievement of the vision and mission and the preparation of the quality of superior graduates.

“We hope that the training activities organized by the Lecturer Team of the Department of Education Administration FIP UM are not only carried out periodically, but must go directly to accompany madrasah schools under the auspices of Ma’arif Malang City,” said Andry.
